The Jacksonville Suns fell to the Mobile BayBears 4-1 in the series finale at Hank Aaron Stadium on Monday afternoon.
Mobile scored first in the bottom of the third against starting pitcher Omar Poveda on a sacrifice fly by Marc Krauss to make it 1-0. In the fourth, the BayBears scored two more to increase the lead to 3-0. Archie Gilbert and Dan Kaczrowski drove in the runs. The final run of the day for Mobile came on a solo home run in the fifth inning by Marc Krauss. It was his fourth homer of the season.
The Suns scored their only run in the ninth when Ryan Patterson doubled and was driven in by a double from Chris Gutierrez.
BayBears starter Patrick Corbin improved his record to 2-0. He pitched seven innings allowing just two hits. Omar Poveda started for the Suns and went five innings, allowing seven hits and four runs. He’s now 2-1.
The Suns and BayBears are once again tied for first place in the South Division. Jacksonville finished the 10-game road trip with a record of 7-3. The Pensacola Blue Wahoos are at the Baseball Grounds to begin a five game series starting Wednesday night.
